Search any location, draw an import area, choose the OSM road classes you need — motorways through service roads — and fetch real geometry via the Overpass API. Imports normalize automatically into editable centerlines and a routable lane graph, with original OSM IDs preserved for traceability.

Questions, answered

Do I need to install anything?

No. Road Mesh runs in the browser. Every plan includes unlimited local projects, the local road editor, traffic simulation, and OSM network import subject to its per-import area limit. Pro and above add cloud save and sync.

Where does the road data come from?

Real OpenStreetMap data, fetched live via the Overpass API for whatever area you import. Original OSM IDs, geometry, and tags are preserved so the network stays traceable back to the source, and you can layer in GIS sources on Pro and above.

Is the simulation realistic, or just an animation?

It's a deterministic, rule-aware microsimulation built for planning. Vehicles use car-following (ACC: IIDM + CAH) and MOBIL lane changing, prepare lanes before turns and exits, and respond to coordinated signals and closures — not scripted animation.

Can I model a road closure and see the impact?

Yes. Close a lane or segment and closure-aware routing immediately steers new vehicles around the blockage. Compare a baseline against the closure scenario and read the difference in queue-length and throughput metrics.

What's the difference between the Free and paid tiers?

Free is local-only with a 5 km² import area. Pro is $49/month and adds personal cloud sync, a 25 km² limit, GIS/CAD import, live traffic data, custom profiles, data exports, and advanced analytics. Team is $79/user/month for 2–10 seats and adds a shared workspace, a 100 km² limit, shared asset libraries, historical traffic, advanced exports, scenario comparison, and roles. Enterprise adds contract-specific limits, billing, onboarding, and support.

Where are the live traffic counters available?

Today the live counter feeds cover the Netherlands, Finland, France and Iceland, converting real counts into traffic-source demand. With the optional history archive enabled you can rewind to a past time window. Everywhere else you set demand manually with traffic sources and driver profiles.
